I was recently in Thornhill and wanted to meet up with some old friends for dinner. We are all big BBQ fans and have heard great things about Holy Smoke Central Texas Barbecue. It’s a hole in the wall reminiscent of a converted Subway. We decided to get the Combo Platter for 4 as it had the most variety. For sides, we got their cornbread, coleslaw, baked beans, and macaroni salad. They have a liquor license, so we got a couple of beers that we thought would pair nicely.
There was no wait for the food, as it was ready in advance. Which was great cause we were hungry. The Brisket was moist with a good bark and was absolutely delicious, by far my favourite. That’s not to say the rest was not also great, just that if you go here, I recommend the brisket! The turkey was also juicy and extremely flavourful. The sausages were fantastic as well, and how could anything stuffed with cheese and jalapeno not be?
Out of the sides, the cornbread was my favourite, but nothing was bad. The platter was also served with raw sliced onion and a few pieces of white bread. We also got all of their sauces to try. The namesake, Holy Smoke, and the sauce were delicious, but there really is not a bad choice here.
In short, I am definitely a fan and will be back next time I am in the area! I meant to take some pictures of the food, but I forgot in my excitement to eat it, so here is what the restaurant front looks like. Also, since all the food is made in advance and due to the nature of the barbecue, once it’s gone, they close for the day.

Do note that the parking lot entrance is a bit difficult to spot though maybe that is because I tried to get there during a snowstorm in rush hour. It’s only on Bay Thorn Drive despite having a Yonge Street address.
